After a long day at the zoo the kids love to ride on the little railroad outside the park. Have the zoo stamp your hand so you can get back in, and have a picnic lunch out at the park just outside the zoo. Your kids can run around, you can relax on the grass, and you can treat your kids to a ride on the railroad. The ride is adorable, and for the price they go around the tracks 4 to 5 times depending on the line.

The Miniature Railroad in Balboa Park is a delight for kids of all ages. A $2 fee gets you a ride that takes 3-minutes or so and covers a -mile through four acres of Balboa Park. It is operated by the San Diego Zoo Department of Transportation.

The Miniture Train & Railroad Company (MTC) produced the G16 Balboa Park Railroad which uses a 16" gage rail. The Balboa park train is actually a scale model of the 1946 EMD's F2 diesel locomotive. One big exception is the extra large hole for the operator to sit. Cute.

great: when the weather is nice, its a great place to go and spend time with your family.

It's a good concept; there are really interesting things to do at the park but the railroad ride it's to short. It's so fast that you can't enjoy it a lot.
