This is a surprise find in Mira Mesa - a Irish Pub that actually really feels like an Irish pub. They pour great Guiness here and their food is great too. They have some amazing wings but they also serve some really good irish cabbabe meals.

I enjoyed Callahans, even though its more of an American Irish where they try to fuse the local food and culture in Irish favorites. As an example they have the California Irish Burrito, which is grilled carne asada, pub chips, guacamole and cheese all wrapped up in a flour tortilla. Served with lemon cilantro rice and refried beans topped with cheese. The Irish part of it is the pub chips, I believe.

But overall the food is good, the service great and the prices very reasonable. Its a big place so there's more than enough room for a big party of people getting together for happy hour or to watch a game.

This place kind of reminds me of a restaurant from the movie office space. I say this in the nicest way possible too. I mean you just get that chain restaurant feel and that is totally fine if like most people your going to this place after work for a happy hour drink to blow off steam. You don't really need the greatest atmosphere for that kind of thing, you just need a good drink list and an appetizer menu, maybe some happy hour specials. That is exactly what these guys have, no more, no less. That is completely satisfactory most of the time as well, just don't expect some sort of unique dining experience going here.

Callahan's has been in Mira Mesa for more than twenty years. It has always provided awesome micro brewed beers and a good selection of other beers on tap. All of the bartenders are great at pouring a good black and tan, and the Guiness is always rich and creamy.

The food is typical pub fare, but it is always hot, tasty and fresh. Their burgers are great tasting and juicy. The shepherd's pie is really good, as is their pot pie.

This is a casual laid back place to just hang out and have good food and good beer.
