LOVE LOVE LOVED this place! I went here the other night because I've heard so much about it from a co-worker of mine. I finally made my way out and WOW I've been missing out! I shared the orange peel spare rib and French style beef with asparagus with my boyfriend and it was absolutely amazing! The quality and the flavors the food had were just remarkable! The service was genuinely nice and sincere. Although there is a large parking lot out front, the place gets packed (as there are many restaurants in the area) so you may need to park on a side street. It's well worth it!!

China Max is kind of a rip off. Sure it looks nice and classy inside, but the menu is way overpriced. You could get that quality for a better value elsewhere. The good thing is that China Max is never entirely full, so if you do decide to go, there will always be a seat for you. I feel like the service is not that good either, the waiters and waitresses don't pay much attention to you.

When I went to China Max, we ordered the Rock Cod Fillet with Black Bean Sauce, which is pretty good. We also ordered Braised Bean Curd. These are two dishes that pop out in my mind that are well-prepared. Their soups are also pretty tasty. Still, as a college student, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere for Chinese Food.

This restaurant's menu is not to be believed and everything I have tried is exceptionally good. Even chicken dishes are amazing, the chicken is moist and flavors are superb. All the seafood is delicate and a real treat to the taste buds.

came here for my graduation dinner with party of 19 and ordered food banquet style. I expected the next dish to come out before we finished the one before it but NO at least 5 times our table was empty. How is the chef and service so slow?? There wasn't even that many people that nigh. But I am from the San Gabriel Valley where there is a plethora of EXCELLENT dimsum and chinese banquet style dinners. This is what I could come up with when I am in San Diego with my Chinese family. I should have listened to my mother when she said "San Diego is for American food...choose American place." At least I had Phil's in the afternoon!
