Chula Vista Nature Center
How did this place get 5 star reviews?! We took the blue line here from Gaslamp district, and it was a quick walk across the freeway to get to the free shuttle into the "nature center". The weird thing is, this place advertises how much they love their animals, and have all these signs up about doing our part to keep the environment clean....yet they keep their animals in these TINY confined spaces. The sea turtle looked miserable. Even the baby sea turtles looked miserable. The owls looked sad. I had a horrible vibe here. It felt more like you were in someone's back yard, looking at their own tiny personal zoo. I would not recommend tourists going out of their way to come here.

love it!
i've lived in san diego my whole life. why haven't i heard about this place earlier??

it's not that big, but there's still enough to enjoy. we came just in time for the horseshoe crab/ sting ray/ shark feeding. anddd.. during the feeding you learn all sorts of facts of the animals from the knowledgeable staff. i personally loved this part of the place because i got to touch my first sting ray and leopard shark. it was also fun to see the kids so excited about them too.

other than sea wildlife, they have all sorts of other animals like snakes, and frogs..also various types of birds from ducks to owls to vultures to bald eagles. we were also able to see them feed on dead rabbits...which was something you don't see everyday...

it's really awesome that this place is isolated from everything else and you just see nature all around you. you could even go along a trail that will lead you to the san diego bay and see a good view of downtown san diego.

this place is definitely worth seeing.

BABY SEA TURTLES
this place feels like a hole-in-the-wall zoo....but i love it for that. its so small and homely, theres a certain charm about it that you just can't help but fall in love with.

their emphasis on wildlife from our LOCAL area is what really got me. you really aren't expecting an impressive collection of wildlife until BAMMMMMM you are hit in the face with sea turtles, sheep crabs, sardines, sea hares, leopard sharks, sting rays, guitar fish, rock lobsters, owls, golden eagles, bald eagles, and the list goes onnnnnn....

i don't see how anybody can NOT like this place.

Neat little mni zoo
I have passes for the San Diego Zoo, Sea world , this is by far no where near that, what I like is that you can come to this little gem , check out some of the local wildlife , and if you have a 4 or 5 year old that is curious and adventurous then this could be enlightening , and very exchanging, I do recommend , but only if you are not expecting something on the grander scale, btw I love the Free Flight venue in Del Mar too!

Fun and educational
Great concept and excellent set up - the center provides a unique forum for learning about local species.

The guided kayak outing was also outstanding!
