Donovans has an awesome happy hour I've enjoyed many times with friends, co workers and clients. The location is great, the atmosphere is very nice. It is high end but not snobby and the staff is incredibly nice, friendly and professional. Their free Prime Filet Steak appetizer sandwiches are what really makes this a great place for happy hour. They also have some great Cajun, Teriyaki, and steakhouse skewer apps' for just $8. All of which go great with superbly well made Martini's that are also just $8 during happy hour. Happy hour lasts from 4 to 8 PM which is far longer than most restaurant happy hours.

When you are finished with Happy Hour grab a table for an amazing dinner. Donovan's is well known as one of San Diego's top steak houses. They have great steak, and a very good wine selection to go with it. They have this location in UTC, another in downtown San Diego as well as Phoenix & Salt Lake City.

I admit that I haven't been to Donovans happy hour in a few years but I hear it's still awesome. I used to work in the building next door so we'd go down to Donovans at least once a week for happy hour. They pass around these little steak sandwiches that are to die for. The are perfectly cooked and you can gracefully eat a few without feeling like you're pigging out. The only thing is that you should get there early to enjoy these little delights. Sometimes they run out (or stop serving them?) and that is a huge bummer. I like sitting in the bar area, it's relatively mellow.

Outside of happy hour, I've always enjoyed the food at Donovans and can't think of anything I've had there that I didn't like. Dinner can be pricey as can drinks, but I don't ever feel like I didn't get what I paid for.

They have complimentary valet parking and aren't open on Sundays. Price range depends on how much or what you drink but I'm guessing this is what I spend for myself typically for dinner and drinks.

Why would I put BEST in caps for the title of this review? Simple really: Free, fantastic food... I love this happy hour because they literally walk around and give out these great filet steak wraps and sandwiches! Keep in mind this only lasts for two hours, and it starts at 4, so if you get there later than 6 no yummy sandwiches for you. Some drinks are discounted as well, and I think that actually lasts a little longer.

really fun place to hang out and have a drink after work. the staff is very friendly and the drinks and food are always GOOD! Is it 4pm yet?
