The East village Tavern & Bowl is a very cool and unique hot spot in downtown San Diego. It combines a bar / night club with a bowling alley! It's high end. Everything is very nice and the staff is super friendly. Definitely not just a standard bowling alley by any means. The lanes are fast but there are only six or so and they are very popular so you have to make reservations. I was recently here for a birthday party that was super fun. They play good music and have club lighting affects in the bowling area portion. They are just a few blocks from Petco. Games cost $2 - $5 dollars or by the hours from $25 during the week to $45 on weekends. Go to party and bowl.

The 'EVT' is an awesome destination for a night out with friends! There are two parts - a huge sports bar with flatscreens to watch the game and a smaller bowling alley where you can bowl a few games while enjoying cocktails and finger food (I know kinda gross when you're bowling but you can always maneuver a fork with your nachos!). <br /><br />

I went a while back when it first opened and back then, you would wait hours for a lane - I'm not sure how the wait is now.<br /><br />

But it was well worth it (luckily, someone in our party called ahead to reserve it so we didn't wait too long but still we had a reservation for 7 and waited a good 45 minutes... just enjoyed some beers in the sports bar area, no biggie!). <br /><br />

The price is a little expensive compared to your typical bowling experience, but the venue is super nice and jazzy - has a clubbish atmosphere! They also play loud music and you get a cocktail waitress who serves you drinks and food all night (although she wasn't as attentive as we would have hoped). <br /><br />

The lanes seemed a little short and there were only about 5(?) so it was a little crammed but all in all I had a great time!

i wanted to go bowling here for a long time and thankfully my friend had a birthday here. I almost walked into the mirror cuz I thought this place was deceptively larger than it appears from the outside. Damn mirror.

Service was okay but could've been better. Our waitress seemed annoyed that I wanted water. Everyone else drank so she didn't have any reason to be irritated or annoyed. After all, I was driving back and didn't want to drink. I came on a Friday night and boy was this place dead all night!

We ended up trying some appetizers while we were here: the cheese fries and the potato skins with carne asada. The funny part was that the plate was super hot but the cheese looked like it dried out before it got to the table. The fries could've been cooked a little more because it had no crunch to it. The potato skins with carne asada tasted like having carne asada fries! This was surprisingly not bad at all.

Overall, I had an okay time. Bowling pricing is pretty dang expensive here. Maybe the North County location being built will be better.

Tip: the midnight hours doesn't mean happy hour... its just what they serve on the menu from their specified hours. Sucks, I know.

This place is a great for a date! It has fun a filled atmosphere any night of the week! I've thrown a surprise birthday party with about 25 guests and there's a perfect upstairs area for that. I have even enjoyed a company social there one night. The point is this place is very versatile a place for a great date and a work event. The Pub area is great lots going on; even a great place to stop by for lunch...but the bowling is awesome. There aren't too many lanes and you have to put your name down on a list but it is designed that way so while you are waiting you can sit down have a few drinks and maybe an appetizer and then it's time for some bowling action!

I go here for the bar, not for bowling.
