Super cool Mission Beach bar. Some consider it a "locals" bar, but it's for everyone. It's a cool mellow atmosphere, very beachy. Lot's of TV's showing surfing and sports. The staff is super friendly here and the pour great drinks. The food is pretty great too and the "$2 you call it" Wednesday nights are always good.
Pros: atmosphere, menu, staff
Cons: parking can be extra tough in Mission Beach.

My home away from home
This place only being a block from my house may tip the scale a bit, but even still, when I think drink, I always think Guava Beach first. They've got great specials on lots of different nights, whether its their Sunday football or Wednesday night 2 dollar you-call-its there is always something sweet going on. I'm a big fan of their Taco Tuesdays too starting at $1.50! Its a fantastic spot, perfect local vibe, just don't hog the dart board when I'm around.

Great Place
I have to start by saying that Guava Beach is one of my favorite bars in San Diego. Their happy hour is great, the service is above par, and Wednesday nights are a lot of fun. This bar is low-key enough to grab a table, relax, and catch up with a friend, but also lively enough to let loose and meet some new people. If you're out with some friends and don't have anything important to do the next morning, I would recommend a bionic beaver or five (just don't ask what's in it).
