Hash house a go go was super busy. I'm glad I made reservations. The waiter was ok. The food was good but just too much of it. Total proportion distortion. Two very hungry people could easily share a plate.

This is a gem. This is totally a place you'd expect to see on the Food Network and want to go there. The portions are gigantic. I always want to order an appetizer just to taste something different on the menu. Appetizer and entree is just way too much food. Expect to take home a huge doggie bag. There's an awesome brie/polenta appetizer. The one dish I see a ton of people order, that I just haven't had the guts to is chicken fried steak on a big pile of waffles. It looks delish. I've never taken my daughter there but think it's a perfectly fine place to take kids. It's a little diner and a bit noisy so a squeal here and there isn't going to matter. Also, the staff couldn't be nicer, in my experience and helpful when you can't decide what on earth to order off the fabulous menu.

The only con I can think of is calories. :)

After hearing stories about Hash House, I had pretty high expectations... Just as they said, the portions are ENORMOUS!!

I had the meatloaf w/ scrambled eggs w/ cheese. If also came on a mountain of mashed potatoes... the amount of potatoes and eggs and the size of the biscuit was insane, but the meatloaf portion was actually average sized.
And I have to admit, I've had better meatloaf (even though our server was totally selling the meatloaf! ).

I'll definitely go back, but I don't think I would go on a weekend - I heard the wait can be up to hours, an I definitely don't think the food is worth all that!

I went on a Sunday and the place was packed! Definitely budget in some waiting time but once you get in its not bad at all. The place is cute, not very big and very homey. I ordered one of the hashes and was shocked by the size of meal they brought me. I was expecting your average breakfast café style deal..no way this was a huge portion of delicious food. It felt almost gourmet and was clearly very quality food and very delicious. It came with a delicious biscuit and a much appreciated huge stalk of rosemary. If you love good hearty, comfort food, and appreciate leftovers check this place out!

This place is ALWAYS packed! They serve food in volumes that are obscene and can literally feed all the homeless in the county twice over with all the uneaten food! I particularly like the back patio on a sunny Sunday morning where it’s nice and warm yet a little breezy! This place comes highly recommended by many of the hillcrest locals but the food is not phenomenal other than the amount they serve it really seems like regular breakfast fare except for the eccentric branch of rosemary sticking out of your food. The food is tasty but it is a bit over rated.
