I have always stayed at Kimpton hotels and Hotel Solamar is just as great. This boutique hotel is very hip. It is a little pricy but the ambiance is great. I highly recommend it.

Great All Around!

We recently booked a room here for a friend's birthday. Got the Choreographer's Suite with two adjoining rooms. The place was WAY bigger than the pictures on their website. Patio looks out to the pool and it is a GREAT place to just lounge (unfortunately, there is no entry to the pool from your patio). All of the utilities in the rooms were great and working!
From the time we arrived at the valet stand (which is a little pricey at $32 per car -- but it paid off) to the time we left, we were met by courteous people. We got there early so asked if we could leave our luggage there and they gladly took it for us. The front desk called me when our rooms were ready (so we were able to walk around the Gaslamp a little bit). We had to ask for some roll-aways and they were delivered to us by Wanda (who was super cool). She asked if we needed more towels or anything and to ask for her by name if we needed anything else.
We stayed on a Saturday night and went to a Padres Game the next day. We were able to leave our cars there at the hotel after checking out and not have to move them and pay for more parking (which is usually jacked up for game days). When we came back, we picked up our bags, got our car and took off. The only drawback was that I paid for the cars when I checked out (we had 4 cars staying there) and then as people came back to pick up their cars, they paid again. I thought the hotel record would have showed that we paid (I'm going to call them to figure this out tomorrow).
But all in all, the staff, hotel, rooms and location were all amazing and I HIGHLY recommend this hotel if you want to stay in the Gaslamp District!

I stayed for two evenings at Hotel Solamar. I had read that the rooms were small but I did not find that to be the case at all. The rooms are comfortably appointed, extremely modern, and clean The service was great. I had only one meal at the hotel and it was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others. It's conveniently located in the Gaslamp district close to shopping and restaurants.

It's part of the Kimpton group, so you can count on a unique room product. The top floor is the pool, with a great view of the city. The rooms are fun and comfortable, and the location is great for the Gaslamp.
