I've never been to Chicago but certainly have had many Chicago-style pizzas besides Lefty's version.

Their pizza is pretty delicious.Their Chicago-style hotdogs are great, too.

The deep dish pizzas are heavy, both in your stomach and in the pizza box. Heavy, but delicious. One slice is all I can eat, and the rest is great for leftovers. It is recommended to give them a call in the early afternoon and order your pizza a couple of hours ahead of time.

I definitely recommend ordering out, though, if you can help it. The North Park location is small and cramped; you will avoid any frustration by taking your pizza to go. Parking can be a little difficult around dinner time too as there are couple of other businesses on that street.

This venue is the only pizza parlor in San Diego to serve true Chicago style deep dish pizza. The crust, sauce and cheese are heavenly minus all the grease that is prevalent in most deep dish concoctions. Pizzeria Uno is only an imitator. If you want true authentic Chicago style deep dish, this is the place.

Everyone I know that has lived in Chicago swears that Lefty’s is as close to authentic Chicago style food as you can get without being there. They now have two locations, the original one is on 30th Street and the newer one is in Mission Hills, they both have a good size dining area and even outdoor seating. You will also find a good beer selection and some wine.
The menu consists of appetizers (great fries), salads, pasta, Chicago style hot dogs and sandwiches and of course the pizza. You can ask for thin, deep dish or the special stuffed crust, I haven’t tried it yet but it looks incredible. They make a few specialty pies that must be tried, including some treats for the vegetarians out there.
I have always had outstanding service at both Lefty’s. It is a family owned and operated business and they care about your satisfaction, it shows!

Okay, a cheesy title but I couldn't help myself. This pizza is so fabulous! It is deep dish style, so if you order a whole pie it will take a long time to be ready. The crust is thick a really delicious on its own. The sauce is also excellent and you can see the tomatoes in it. I prefer to get a whole pie than the individual slices as they just aren't as good for some reason. Good, don't get me wrong. But they do sit there and wait for you to order one, then reheat it, and I think something gets lost in that translation. The pies are HUGE so you'll definitely need friends if you order one. Otherwise their 2 slices and a soda for about $5 is a great deal. I haven't tried anything else there, but hear that the hot dogs are excellent as well. The place is small, so it is difficult to "eat in."

I love pizza. I could eat it all day, every day for the rest of my life. I like getting pizza from all types of pizza parlours. Lefty's is one of my favourites. I don't know why I keep throwing the letter "u" in these words. Maybe I'm feeling olde timey. Moving along. The pizza here is incredible. What else to say about it. Good job. I want more of it. Always!
