Support your local surf shop!
A great surf shop like this is becoming (sadly) a rare thing, even in a surf city like San Diego.
If you want a store that is staffed by surfers and stocks everything a surfer needs (not just the latest hoodie from Quicksilver), support great local surf shops like Mitch's.
I can run in and choose from a selection of boards from local shapers (not crappy popouts from Asia), anything I might need to build or repair a board of my own, wetsuits, surf travel needs, board boxes, you name it; they've got it.

La Jolla's Best Surf Shop Period!
When I imagine what a surf shop should be like, I imagine Mitch's Surf Shop. Run by surfers for surfers, but not uncool to the occasional tourist or local landlubber. My last purchase was a pair of new booties. The service was personal and when I wanted to try on three pairs, the guy was totally accommodating. As soon as I figure out a way to get back in the water more often, I'll be back a Mitch's for boardshorts, wax, and maybe someday a new board.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..
I LOVE MITCH'S Surf Shop! They rock my world. They are helpful and personable and their selection of boards seems to have gotten better than a few years ago. All I know is ask for Tony, my fav.
Mitch's gives me that warm fuzzy feeling....

Old School Surf Shop
It's rare now a days to see a mom and pop run surf shop. But Mitch's is just that. Down to earth and really good people. Why buy wax from Surfride when you can go chat with Mitch and see one of the pros in there from time to time. Support local! Support Mom and Pop shops!
