Very cool, unique combination of head shop, art store, music, greeting card, book & clothing store. A real OB icon. There is no other store like it in San Diego or anywhere else I've been. If you are looking for a unique gift this is a great place to go. There always seem to be some interesting characters in there working and shopping.

The black has the neatest gifts and novelty items, as well as things like incense, candles, and pipes. They have funny t-shirts in the back and even baby clothes. Prices are high but you get what you pay for, and awesome store to window shop or buy at.

I supposed The Black would be called a head shop. It is a fun little shop aside from the water pipes. They have cute clothes and jewelry. The have interesting books and some instruments. It has the fun O.B. atmosphere where you can go in barefood directly from the beach. They have some neat house decorations.

The Black is probably the most famous smoke shop in town. They carry smoking supplies, magazines, books, gifts, novelty items, music books, clothing and a lot more. The staff is helpful and it doesn't hurt that the store is close to the beach.
