I went an event hosted at the W a couple months back and the place was great! The staff were very friendly and they served hors d'oeuvres that were DELICIOUS - I assume representative of the cuisine of the hotel. The entire venue was clean and classy. The only drawback is parking...but parking is always a headache especially in the Gaslamp!
Pros: Clean, classy, hip venue with professional staff.
Cons: Parking is horrible!! Take a cab downtown!
Price Range: $1 - $5

The W hotel just hosted the MojoPages San Diego launch part. What can I say, it was one amazing night. Mojoer's definitely know how to have a good time. But enough about Mojoer's let's talk W hotel. They provided us with amazing service. Really catered to every need, where very responsive and had the W decked to the nines.

The W has been newly remodeled. I think they call it San Diego Surfer sheik. The look works and the entire hotel has a very cool ambiance. They have a new area in between the roof and the lobby that is right next to the pool. This new space is cozy and makes for a great area to get the night started. Picture mood lighting, candles and couches.

After you've got a little buzz started you can head up to the rooftop beach. Ladies don't wear high heals unless you're in for a challenge because the floor is mostly sand. The view is beautiful and the giganto fire pit is great for warming up on those brisk winter nights. They have a full bar and VIP cabanas on the roof as well.

All in all I really enjoyed spending an evening at the W. And from what I saw they don't have the pretentiousness of typical down town clubs which is a major plus in my book. In the words of our steroid using governor "I'll be back".
Have you been to newly remodeled W Hotel??? They have stepped it by bringing the beach to downtown. Everyone's dream to be in a hip cool place and feel comfortable. Grand re-opening is September 4th!
Pros: You are at the W, what else is there?
Cons: Parking is a drag, but everywhere in San Diego is a challenge. Bike It!

So your anniversary is coming up and you can't decide what to do. You could go to a restaurant, a bar, the beach, or a spa. Well, why not stay at a hotel: Because I have the perfect one in mind.

The newly remodeled W in downtown San Diego would be the perfect destination spot, with all of the above included. Not only is the entire hotel and rooms decorated in only the finest deco, including pop art of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and others on the walls, but there is an indoor/outdoor beach (complete with sand!) so that you don't even have to go anywhere to experience all of San Diego.

Also featured is an outdoor pool area, Rice, the new restaurant, and their beach-area bar. Rooms area decorated in a more casual, fun mood and the spa has some fantastic options.

So treat yourself, head on over to the W and make it a memorable experience.
Pros: - lots and lots of things!
Cons: - bad for parking
Price Range: $200 - $300

I've been to the W several times recently for different events, most recently the MojoPages community launch party last night which was a rockin' event.

The star attraction at the W is the Beach, http://www.wbeachbar.com, which looks best after the sun goes down. The bar, cabanas, couches, firepit and sand come together to create a hip atmosphere for you and your friend(s). Check it out.
Pros: The Beach rooftop bar is unique with a great view and a cool vibe. No parking problems on weekday nights.
Cons: Drinks are pricey, so have a few cheap happy hour drinks somewhere else before heading over.
