Small Store - Good Popular Selections
This is a tiny book store compared to the larger B&N and Borders, but it has a good selection of popular books. It also has a cool selection of local books geared towards tourists. If you are traveling to the downtown area and need to pick up a quick read or magazine, I would recommend stopping by.

Too Expensive - Other Options Available
It is easy to take advantage of the CSUSM bookstore because of the convenience, but I would recommend trying other options first. The books are at the top of the price bracket for texts and the employees are untrained and confused. Give yourself enough time to order books through Amazon or local discount text stores to get the best value.

Huge Selection of Books - Free Rewards Membership
Borders offers a large selection of fiction books and even larger collection of specialty books. The store is carved into thematic areas that are easy to navigate. The store is huge and there is enough room that the books do not get displaced by seasonal merchandise. It is also big enough for cool rotating displays of staff picks, popular themes, and classics. Borders carries a fun selection of gift merchandise from Paperchase, an awesome, quirky company from England. Unlike its main competitor, the Borders Rewards membership is free and you get weekly email coupons and cash back benefits. The cafe is good for coffee and other drinks but they do not offer any type of lunch selections.

Voted for Wild Animal Park
Peaceful with Open Animal Habitats
While the SD Zoo offers a huge array of animals in a smaller, easier to navigate space, the Wild Animal Park is a larger, open space concept with animals in a more natural habitat. Be prepared for a good workout if you want to take in the whole park in a day. If you are going in the summer it is hot and dry, so take sunscreen and a water bottle. It is worth it to buy an annual pass if you are a local and enjoy watching animals in a peaceful atmosphere. The WAP also has a variety of lovely gardens on the outskirts of the park that are rarely visited. If you want a good chance at seeing the animals, it is better to go earlier in the morning before it gets to hot and they hide.
